local estate auction, hereford, PA

So, that auction I went to that I referred to in yesterday's blog-- it was OK. At least it was fun! I took my daughter in law with me, who usually can't get away from her 2 little ones that she takes care of as a stay at home mom. She also sells on ebay at moe4jesus23. I usually do the buying for her but this is the first time she got to see it for herself and she was impressed. There was so much going on and so fast!
We got there after the auction had already started and were lucky to just get a seat--sometimes you have to wait to get a seat--and a parking spot! If you are a newbie, everything seems to go so fast and you can really miss it. I am used to it though. I go to this auction every week so I don't even need to sign up for a number--I have a permanent number and the auctioneer seems to remember what everyone buys. If something comes up like linens or crafts--all he has to do is look at me and I nod my head. The item comes my way in another few seconds and I haven't even moved! Katie found this amazing. "No wonder you get such great buys!" she said.
By the end of the night I spent about 125.00 and had maybe half a van full of stuff. My largest purchase was a handmade shelf for 9.00. It is made out of sticks and string--pretty cool! I will put it in my space at the antique mall where I also sell.
Check out zionsvilleantiques.com. It would be great if you could visit there--with over 30,000 square feet, it is the largest antique mall in the lehigh valley area. You could spend hours there!
Some of my finds from last night:
1. a collection of Just the Right shoe shoes
2. a miniature dress form
3. a miniature TV
4. 2 old puppets
5. a box of elephants
6. a large yellow fiesta ware platter
7. a collection of apple items,: cookie jar, salt and peppers, glass container, etc
8. Tom Thumb toy cash register
9. army blanket
10. chenille blanket with pink rosebuds--really cute!
Some of these items will show up on ebay at everythingvintagesteph.com (after I get home from vacation next week!)
