Today was a tailgate auction at Jake's Flea Market, near Bally, PA. This is an interesting idea for an auction. If you want to sell a van or truck load of stuff, just load it all in your (van for me) and drive on over to jakes about 7AM. You just check in and then they give you a section to fill up with your JUNK. They have 14 sections but if they have more than 14 sellers, then you have to wait until #1 section is finished, etc. You set everything out on the tables yourself and then you wait until the auctioneer gets to your table and starts selling your stuff. (it could take a while!) About 5 minutes after your stuff is sold, you can go and pick up your CASH. The auctioneer gets 30 percent so don't expect too much if all you have is JUNK. But you never know what someone else might want and it's better than getting nothing for your junk.
And they will sell ALL of it. Whatever seems like it is not selling, gets left on the table and then the lucky bidder can get the entire table for 1.00 or so. Pick up some great bargains too!
